Designations

The Wye Marsh has been designated as an Important Bird Area (IBA) providing habitat for a number of significant species including provincially Threatened Least Bitterns, Species of Special Concern Black Terns, and the famous Trumpeter Swans (with the Wye Marsh population representing approximately 10% of the Trumpeter Swan population in the province). Wye Marsh is also designated a Provincially Significant Wetland (PSW) and an Area of Natural and Scientific Interest (ANSI).
