Join Friends of Wye Marsh as we launch our new year-round Family Passport Program! Pay-What-You-Can for admission. Learn to how snowshoe. Go on a hike. Take a trivia challenge. Meet an Animal Ambassador. Speak with a Swan Monitor. Sip some hot chocolate by an open fire. Plus there’s a Free Draw!
Snowshoe Basics, Back Patio
- 10:00 am
- Embrace winter's beauty, and have fun walking ON hte snow using centuries old Indigenous technology or their modern rendition. Our volunteers and staff will get you fitted with the right size, so you can enjoy this great Canadian Tradition.
Raptor Selfie, Display Hall
- 10:30 am - 11 am
- Bring your camera to take a selfie with one of our Birds of Prey

Trivia Challenge & FREE DRAW, Back Patio
- 11:00 am
- Meet us on the back patio. Explore our trails. Find the answers to complete our Winter Trivia Challenge and drop off your completed form to enter a Free Draw in the Visitors Centre.
Birds of Prey Field
- 1:00 pm
- Join our Animal Care team for an opportunity to meet some of our Educational Ambassadors. Learn about their personalities, favourite foods, natural habitats, and much more at a 30 minute demonstration
Guided Snowshoe Discovery Hike, Back Patio
- 2:30 pm
- Join a Naturalist on the back patio for a guided hike along our favourite trails!
- Pre-registration is not required.
- Maximum group size is 15 people. If this maximum is reached there will be a second hike at 2:30 pm.
Trumpeter Swan Viewing, Swan Landing
- All Day When the ice freezes over Georgian Bay, it is the best time to see Trumpeter Swans at Wye Marsh!
Bannock Roasting & Hot Chocolate (weather permiting), Cookhouse Fire Pit
- 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
- Warm up by the open fire while roasting bannock, a simple & delicious wilderness bread.
- Guests are asked to limit crowding around the fire as part of Wye Marsh's Fire Safety policies.
- Fires not permited when winds reach more than 20 km/hour
Nature Craft, Display Hall
- 10:00 am ~ 3 pm
- Make a fun nature based craft in the Display Hall
