What is CBC4Kids?

The Christmas Bird Count for Kids is a fun winter birdwatching event for kids and families. Join us to learn about birds, connect with young naturalists, and become a Citizen Scientist!

CBC4Kids events nationwide, and coordinated locally by naturalist groups such as Wye Marsh throughout December and January.

Naturalists will show participants how to identify local birdlife and use binoculars, then lead them outside to find and count birds. After their adventures, the young Citizen Scientists enjoy hot cocoa and bannock roasting together and share their observations.

Their findings are submitted through an online checklist and reported to eBird Canada, where they can be used in scientific research. eBird Canada is a collaborative project managed by Bird Studies Canada.
