Turtle ID Workshop

How can you tell a Painted Turtle from a Map Turtle? What's the average lifespan of a Blandings? Do turtles actually "freeze"?

Learn about turtle identification, fun facts, habitat and ongoing conservation efforts in Ontario. During this dynamic two-hour workshop you will:

  • Hike through the forest and across the berm
  • Kayak through the marsh
  • Take a “Turtle Tally” and
  • Put your new skills to the test.
     

Where: Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre
When: Sunday, July 13 from 10am-12pm
Members: $17 per person + HST
Non-Members: $27 per person + HST
Who: Ages 10 and up. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult

What to bring: Sturdy footwear and/ or water shoes, layered clothing, camera, binoculars & field guides can be helpful. This experience will be entirely outdoors, so please dress for the weather! 

Please note: All kayaking equipment will be provided.

About the Instructor:
Alison is a Trent University student, entering her fourth year in Biology and Environmental Science. As a returning Outdoor Educator to the Wye Marsh, Alison has gained a vast amount of knowledge regarding turtles, and is ready to share this information with you!
