Discover all of the natural gifts that Wye Marsh has to offer throughout this holiday break! In addition to exploring our interpretive centre and over 25 km of nature trails, participate in some of the special programming that we have created for the whole family, all included with admission!
Bannock Roasting - 11am-2pm
Bannock has been a staple food of wilderness explorers for centuries. Portable, nutritious, tasty and easy to make, bannock’s legendary reputation continues as one of the best wilderness survival foods out there, not to mention a fun and engaging mid-day snack. Stop by our log cabin fire pit to warm up by fire and roast this tasty treat!
Feature Creature - 1pm
Meet a creature and their keeper daily at 1pm for an opportunity to about their favourite food, natural history and unique personalities! Weekdays we will feature a reptile (turtle or snake) or raptor (hawk or owl), with a Birds of Prey show being featured on both Saturdays and Sundays.
Wonder Wye? - 11am & 2pm
Join our Naturalists at both 11am & 2pm if you have ever wondered 'wye' nature is so cool! Explore high and low through a variety of activities that will engage the whole family! Experience tracking animals or learn about the wide variety of birds that call the Marsh home, including the Trumpeter Swan, a provincially rare species!
Swan Stories - 2:30pm
Join our dedicated Trumpeter Swan Monitoring volunteers at 2:30pm down at the Waterfowl Monitoring Platform to discuss all things trumpeter swans! Learn about the Trumpeter Swan Reintroduction & Monitoring Programs, how to adopt and name a Trumpter swan and even help with feeding duties!
Snowshoe Discovery Hike - 3pm
Join a Naturalist for a guided snowshoe hike along our most favourite trails! Discover, listen, touch, inquire and gain a new appreciation for winter nature! Snowshoes are provided free of charge during the discovery hike.
