| Camp Marshes and Moccassins 2008 Report “Wye Marsh is the best, la-de-da, the best of all the rest, la-de-da…” If you spent time at the Wye Marsh during the summer of 2008, you may have heard the voices of small, energetic creatures echoing this refrain far off in the distance. Who are these creatures, you ask? They are campers, of course! Camp Marshes and Moccasins had another very successful, action-packed summer, full of fun and educational activities. From archery and canoeing the channels of the Marsh to creating environmentally-themed crafts and dipnetting on the boardwalk, day campers were constantly on the go and learning about nature. Camp Marshes and Moccasins also successfully underwent the re-accreditation process with the Ontario Camping Association, proving once again that we offer quality programming and outstanding leadership. I would like to extend my thanks to Margaret Black and her daughter Emily, who, four years ago, created the Gordon Black Memorial Camp Sponsorship Fund with the goal of sponsoring children and giving them the opportunity to experience camp. Their fundraising efforts allowed 15 children to attend Camp Marshes and Moccasins this summer. I was also fortunate to work with an incredibly dedicated, enthusiastic staff. I would like to thank our camp counsellors for being the very best; day after day they proved their talent by demonstrating their natural abilities to work with children. As the director, I feel privileged to have witnessed more than 350 campers experience the transformations, friendships, memories and wonder that can only be the result of an exceptional camp program. Thank you to everyone who had a hand in making Camp Marshes and Moccasins such a fantastic success. --Heather Walton, Camp Director Wye Marsh is located in the beautiful Wye Valley in the heart of nature.
