Traditional Leather Workshops

Under the guidance of Marilyn George, a local Indigenous artisan, create unique and meaningful leather works.

All are welcome to register for one workshop or both - there are no pre-requisites. 

Drum Keychain

Enjoy an afternoon with Marilyn George and make a drum keychain to take home. Tools and materials provided.

Where: Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre
When: Saturday, November 27, 2021 from 1:30pm-3:00pm 
How much: $30.00 
Price includes admission to our interpretive centre and trails for day following the workshop.
Who: Artisans of any ability, aged 13+.

This workshop takes place partially indoors. Per Province of Ontario's mandate, participates must provide proof of vaccination to attend.

Medicine Pouch

As the Winter Solstice approaches, many people reflect on their past, future, and over-all well being. Join Marilyn George, a member of the Serpent River First Nation, and create your own Medicine Pouch as we move from the darkest days of winter into the light of spring.

About the Instructor

Marilyn George is a member of the Serpent River First Nation. She has been promoting an Indigenous heritage for decades. As the Cultural Coordinator for Massasauga Provincial Park, and the Georgian Bay Native Friendship Centre, she has taught many how to make dream catchers, moccasins, and medicine pouches. She enjoys sharing her leatherwork skills with others, and is looking forward to seeing you at her workshop.
