Amphibian BioBlitz & Workshop

Frogs, skinks and salamanders - learn all about Ontario's amphibians!

This workshop is run by well-known environmentalist Josh Feltham. It is designed to teach participants about amphibian ID, ecology, and then get out and put their skills into practice during a 1.5 amphibian BioBlitz hike at Wye Marsh.

What to expect at this workshop:

  • 1 hour – ID and ecology of Ontario Amphibians and Blitz Preparation (Indoor)
The group will learn about amphibian ID and ecology so that they can plan an amphibian blitz. They will have access to maps that highlight different ecotypes and plan where they will go in an attempt to find as many amphibian species as they can in an hour and a half.

  • 1.5 hours  – Amphibian Blitz (Outdoors)
The group will “execute their plan” and work to photo document as many amphibian species as possible. This can be done as a social media event if participants have Instagram or Facebook accounts. They can post/share images and information using a designated hash tag.
